Event Strategy Session

Pressure-test your event, decide where to play & how to win, and find sustainable growth

A focused strategy engagement for event organisers who want a sharper view of an event’s growth potential, competitive position and next strategic moves.

It starts with a simple self-service action: running the event through my Event Strategy Bot. That gives you a structured strategic baseline. From there, I’ll review your output through my own lens, test what stands out, identify what matters most, and play back a clear outside view on where your event is strong, where the growth opportunity sits, and what should happen next.

For many organisers, that alone is enough to unlock better thinking and better decisions. And when more is needed, the same process can expand into a deeper one-month engagement with stakeholder input, further analysis, a written review, and a team workshop to properly shape the event’s growth strategy.

Why event organisers use this

Because growth decisions are easy to get wrong when you are too close to the event.

Internal teams often carry assumptions that have gone unchallenged for too long. Positioning may feel familiar rather than distinctive. Growth opportunities may be visible, but not prioritised. The team may sense there is more value to unlock, but may not have an immediate view on where to focus.

This process brings structure, outside perspective and strategic judgement to that moment.

It helps answer questions like:

  • Where is the event genuinely strong?

  • Where is growth most likely to come from?

  • What is being missed or underplayed?

  • What should be protected, what should be improved, and what should change?

  • Where should the event play more deliberately?

How it works

1. Start with the Event Strategy Bot

The process begins with the event being run through my Event Strategy Bot. The bot is already used by more than 1,000 events globally and has become a trusted starting point for organisers looking to make sense of an event’s position, proposition, market context and growth potential. That first step creates a structured base to work from quickly and efficiently.

2. I review the output through my own lens

Once the bot output is available, you’ll send it to me, and I’ll review it properly. I’ll ask for the underlying data at this stage, not what’s available to the bot externally. This is where the value moves beyond self-service. With my 20+ years of experience, I look at what stands out, what may be overstated, what may be missing, where the strategic tension sits, and what the most important implications are for growth. I bring sector context, commercial judgement and practical event experience to the review.

3. A two-hour strategy session

The next step is a focused two-hour strategy session.

In that session, I play back what I see: the strengths, the gaps, the growth angles, the risks, the areas of strategic opportunity, and the priorities I would focus on next. The goal is to leave with a much clearer understanding of the event and a more confident view of the next strategic moves. We then debate the options, weigh the key actions available to us, and craft a way forward for your event. The event gets a sharper strategic frame, the leadership gains a stronger outside view, and the next planning cycle becomes easier and more deliberate.

4. An optional Event Strategy Workshop

When the above steps aren’t enough, and you need to connect strategy to action, we’ll do a one-month engagement for teams that want to go further and turn insights into an actionable growth strategy.

This includes:

  • Everything in the Event Strategy Review

  • Stakeholder conversations

  • More detailed data requests

  • Deeper commercial and strategic analysis

  • A written event strategy review

  • A facilitated team workshop

  • Strategic priorities and clearer next-step actions

Best for:

  • Events with significant growth ambition

  • Teams needing alignment around the strategy

  • Organisers wanting stronger internal buy-in

  • Events facing performance questions, competitive pressure or repositioning decisions.
